Joint Capacity Building Workshop Held to Strengthen Green Climate Fund (GCF) Project Development in Cambodia

On February 11, the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), in collaboration with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Environment, hosted a capacity-building workshop at the Shangri-La Hotel, Phnom Penh. Supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the session focused on developing bankable investment projects and GCF concept notes.

The event was presided over by H.E. Sum Thy, Director General of the Department of Policy and Strategy at the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Dith Sochal, Council Member of the Association of Banks in Cambodia; and Mrs. Nathalie Andre, GGGI Country Representative for Cambodia. Approximately 30 representatives from various stakeholders and development partners attended.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of GCF governance, requirements, and investment policies. Key topics included the preparation of concept notes, financial structuring, and risk frameworks. Additionally, the event served as a platform for knowledge sharing among government institutions, the financial sector—including the National Bank of Cambodia and the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia—and the Cambodia Microfinance Association.
