On 22 January 2026, Mr. Rath Sophoan, Chairman of the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), together with Members of the Council and the Secretariat of the Association of Banks in Cambodia, delivered financial assistance amounting to KHR 150 million to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. The assistance was provided to support education personnel, including teachers and displaced students, during the period of armed aggression by Thailand affecting provinces along the Cambodian–Thai border.

His Excellency Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, graciously welcomed the delegation from the Association of Banks in Cambodia and accepted the financial assistance on behalf of the Ministry. On this occasion, His Excellency expressed sincere appreciation to all benefactors who have supported the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. He further noted that the funds would be used to assist displaced teachers and students, as well as to repair school buildings damaged as a result of the aggression.

On the same occasion, Mr. Rath Sophoan expressed his sincere gratitude to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister for the warm reception and for accepting the financial contribution from the Association of Banks in Cambodia. He emphasized that this contribution, raised from ABC member institutions, reflects the collective commitment of the banking sector to support the Ministry’s mission in assisting education personnel, teachers, and displaced students affected by the armed conflict.

This is in addition to the support and relief that banks have provided to the frontline soldiers and displaced people in line with NBC’s circular. It is worth noting that in early January 2026, the Association of Banks in Cambodia also provided humanitarian assistance—including food supplies, essential materials, and financial support—to heroic armed forces and displaced persons in Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap provinces.
